Privacy and Your Data

The calculators on this site run in your browser, and the numbers you type into them are never sent to a server.

Calculators stay in your browser

The calculators run in your browser, so the numbers you enter, such as a lot size or a KSh amount, are never sent to a server and never stored by us. The arithmetic happens on your device and the result disappears when you close the page.

That design is deliberate. Position size and margin figures are your business, and there is no reason for this desk to hold them.

How long data is kept, what deletes it, and how policy changes are announced

Data stored in your browser, such as the consent flag and preference settings, is kept until you clear it or until your browser removes it under its own storage limits. There is no fixed expiry set by this site for local storage, but clearing site data deletes it immediately. Server logs held by the web host are kept for a limited period determined by the host's security and operational needs, after which they are deleted or aggregated. No calculator input is ever stored to begin with.

A change to this privacy policy is announced by updating the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, by a short notice on the homepage for a reasonable period. The site does not send email newsletters, so there is no mailing list to notify. If a new third party is added that would receive data, this page will name it before it goes live. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy, and you can always clear your browser data to reset your choices.

The calculators and the written guides remain available without accepting any non-essential data collection. The site's approach is to collect as little as possible, keep nothing that is not needed, and state plainly what leaves your browser. If you have a question that this page does not answer, the contact details on the about page are the route to ask it. This page does not replace the broker's privacy notice, which governs the relationship once you open an account.

The cookies this site sets and the job each one does

This site sets a small number of first-party cookies, and each has a single, specific job. A consent cookie records whether you have accepted or declined non-essential cookies so the banner does not reappear on every visit. A preference cookie remembers your chosen language and calculator settings. A session cookie helps the page load consistently during a single visit and expires when you close the browser. None of these cookies contain your name, M-Pesa number or any trading data.

The site does not set advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies or cookies that follow you to other websites. Any cookie that would identify you across sites is outside what this site uses. The broker you click through to sets its own cookies under its own policy, and those are not controlled by this site. If you want to see exactly which first-party cookies are present, your browser's developer tools will list them under the Application or Storage tab for this domain.

You can block or delete all cookies through your browser settings without losing access to the calculators or the written guides. Blocking the consent cookie means the banner may appear again, and blocking the preference cookie means your language or calculator settings may reset. The site does not require cookies to function. The only cookies that affect a broker relationship are the broker's own, which are governed by the broker's privacy notice, not this one.

Your rights over data this site holds and how to exercise them

Because this site does not collect personal data through the calculators and does not require an account, the practical rights you can exercise are limited to clearing the local storage and cookies your browser holds. You can delete that data at any time through your browser settings, and the site will treat you as a new visitor on your next visit. There is no server-side profile to request, correct or delete because none is created. The only exception is standard server logs held by the web host.

If you believe the web host's server logs contain personal data about you, you can request access to or deletion of that data by contacting the site through the contact details published on the about page. The request will be assessed against the host's legal obligations to retain security logs. The site will not ask for your M-Pesa number, your broker password or any KSh amount as part of that request. You should never send those details through a contact form.

You also have the right to use the site without accepting non-essential cookies. Declining them does not restrict the calculators or the guides. If you are in Kenya, the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner is the authority for data protection complaints, while the CMA is the authority for capital markets conduct and does not regulate this site. This site is an information resource, not a licensed broker, and it does not hold client funds or execute trades.

What this site stores on your device and what it never stores

The site stores only what is needed to remember your preferences, such as the last calculator tab you opened and a local flag for cookie consent, all in your browser's local storage. It does not store your name, email, phone number, M-Pesa details, trading account numbers or any KSh amounts you type into the calculators. Nothing you enter is written to a database on our servers because the calculators run entirely in your browser. The only data that leaves your device is described in the sections below.

Any figure you type into a gold position-size or margin calculator stays in your browser's memory and disappears when you close the tab. The site does not transmit those numbers to any server, does not log them, and does not use them to build a profile. For example, if you enter a 0.10-lot XAU/USD position and see the margin figure of about $85.50 at the applicable leverage cap, that calculation happens on your device. The site never receives the $85.50 or the lot size you used.

If you clear your browser's site data for this domain, every stored preference and consent flag is deleted immediately and permanently. The site keeps no copy because it never had one. You can therefore use the calculators, read the guides and compare the broker without creating an account, giving an email address or sharing any personal information. The only exception is if you choose to follow a broker link, which is covered in a later section.

The broker sets its own cookies

When you follow a link to a broker, that broker sets its own cookies under its own policy, and this desk does not control them. Read the broker's privacy and cookie pages before you open an account, because the relationship becomes yours and the broker's.

Affiliate links are how the desk earns, but the tracking that comes with them belongs to the broker's policy, not ours. If you want to avoid it, use your browser's cookie controls.

Affiliate tracking when you follow a broker link

When you click a link to FxPro on this site, the link may carry a referral code so the broker can identify that the visit came from here. That code is a parameter in the URL, not a cookie set by this site. It tells the broker that a reader from this site followed the link. It does not tell the broker anything about your calculator inputs, your KSh amounts or your browsing history on this site, because the site does not collect that information to pass on.

The affiliate arrangement means this site may receive a payment from the broker if you open an account and trade after following a link. That payment does not change the reference price, the margin figure of about $85.50 for a 0.10-lot gold position, or any other number shown in the calculators. The calculators use the same inputs whether you arrive from a search engine or from a broker link. The arrangement is disclosed here so you can weigh the source of the information you are reading.

If you do not want a broker to know you arrived from this site, open the broker's website directly in a new tab instead of clicking the link. The referral code is only passed when you use the link. Once you are on the broker's site, its own cookie and privacy policy apply, and that policy is separate from this one. This site does not receive a copy of what you do after you leave.

Traffic counts and local storage

We keep only aggregate traffic counts, which tell us how many visits a page received and nothing about who made them. We do not build reader profiles and we do not sell data.

Local storage on your own device holds your preferences, such as a calculator setting, so the page behaves the same way next time. That storage sits on your device and you can clear it from your browser at any time.

Third parties that receive any data and the limits on what they get

The third parties involved are limited to the web host that serves the pages, any analytics provider described below, and the broker whose link you may choose to follow. The web host processes standard server logs such as IP address, browser type and the page requested, which are necessary to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. The analytics provider receives aggregated page-view data. The broker receives the referral code if you click a link. No other third party receives data from this site.

The site does not sell, rent or share personal information with data brokers, advertising networks or social media platforms. It does not embed social media pixels, comment systems or third-party chat widgets that would collect data on every page. The only outbound links that carry a referral parameter are the broker links, and those are marked as such. If a page ever includes an embedded video or chart from another provider, that provider would set its own cookies, and this policy would be updated to name it.

The broker FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK), CySEC and FSCA, not by the CMA of Kenya. That regulatory status affects how the broker handles your data once you are its client, but it does not give this site access to your account information. This site never receives your M-Pesa transaction details, your broker account number or your trading history. Any data you give the broker is governed by the broker's own privacy notice, which you should read before opening an account.

FAQ

Common questions

What information does Meru Options collect when I visit?

We collect what a standard website receives: pages viewed, approximate location, browser type and referral source, plus anything you type into the contact form. We do not ask for broker login details, M-Pesa PINs or account numbers, and you should never send them to an editorial desk.

Do the calculators store the amounts I enter?

The calculators run in your browser to produce a result, and the figures you type are not saved as an account record. Treat any calculator as a planning aid: a margin figure such as about $85.50 for a 0.10-lot gold position at the applicable cap is an estimate, not a stored transaction.

Are there cookies on this site?

The site may use cookies for basic functionality and for measuring aggregate traffic. They are not used to identify you personally. If your browser blocks them, the explanatory pages and calculators should still work; only convenience features may be affected. We do not sell personal data.

What happens to my email if I use the contact form?

It is used to reply to your message and to check a correction if you report one. We do not add you to a marketing list without a clear opt-in, and we do not pass your address to a broker. Avoid including account numbers or M-Pesa references in the message body.

Does clicking a broker link share my data with that broker?

Once you leave this site and land on a broker's page, that broker's own privacy terms apply and it may see that you arrived from here. We do not control what it collects. Read its policy before funding anything, particularly where payment routes such as M-Pesa are involved.
